FSP Internship Opportunities

The Field Stations Program offer both paid and unpaid positions for student interns.

Paid Positions

The Field Stations Program office supports two positions and recruits in the beginning of each semester and summer. The FSP office is currently accepting applications for two federal work study student positions. To apply for the positions, students must be:

  • currently enrolled at SDSU, and
  • qualified for federal work study.

Database Assistant

The database assistant will assist the SDSU campus office with database development and web programming.

The applicant should have database development and programming skills (SQL or MySQL), web programming skills (e.g., ASP, JSP, PHP, HTML, CSS), and good communication and teamwork skills; experience in ArcView and ArcIMS is also a valuable asset. Field assistant candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds, perform strenuous work outdoors in inclimate weather, and hike in remote sites with rugged topography; experience with power tools, safety awareness, and MS Office is also helpful.

Field Assistant

The field assistant will perform equipment inventory and site clean up at the Sky Oaks Field Station.

The field assistant has the opportunity to live on-site in free modest accommodations; however, this is not required.

Applicants should email their resumes to fsinfo@sciences.sdsu.edu or call 619.594.0580. Students should include the interested position, allocation amount for Fall 2004, and available hours per week for work.

Unpaid Positions

Are you interested in expanding your life experiences, working with environmental issues, and dedicating a few hours a week as an unpaid volunteer?
