What is TRNERR?
Tijuana River National Estuarine Reseach Reserve (TRNERR) is located near the US and Mexico border in coastal southern San Diego County. The reserve contains a diverse suite of estuarine, aquatic and terrestrial habitats. TRNERR provides protected sites for research and education of southern California ecosystems. TRNERR is managed jointly by California State Parks and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and is an SDSU

How do I visit TRNERR?
Individuals interested in conducting orginial research or educational activity at TRNERR must submit an application through OAFS. Research and education visitors are subject to Reserve Use Fees, Reserve Regulations and Data Policy. The general public is invited to visit TRNERR during open hours.

What is it like to visit or stay at TRNERR? What should I bring?
Please check the current weather conditions prior to arrival. There are no overnight facilities at TRNERR. TRNERR is in City of Imperial Beach, in San Diego metropolitan area. Class & lab space, computer & Internet access, and field equipment may be available. Please consult with the Reserve Administrator regarding their availability.
