Tours at SMER
Tours of the Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve are open to the public. These informative tours are led by Dr. Matt Rahn, the Field Stations Program Director. The tours are held every first and third Friday of the month. Space is limited, so please make a reservation now.

Scientific And Technical Review: Liberty Quarry Draft Environmental Impact Report (PDF, 100 MB) and the Support Literature (ZIP, 104 MB) have been released. Comments on it by Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger LLP (ZIP, 9 MB) are also available.

Rattlesnake Behavioral Ecology
Dr. Rulon Clark is studying the behavior of rattlesnakes confronted by ground squirrels and kangaroo rats. The study is examining the role of various ecological and organismic factors that shape predator-prey signaling interactions. »More

Dr. Kris Walker, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, is deploying microphone arrays at SMER to investigate low-frequency atmospheric sound and how that sound is converted into seismic energy through the Earth's surface. »More
